TR: Yosemite in Spring 2019

I finally made it through. Some of my favorite picstures are the ones in the crazy weather and the backlit branches. Good for you in sticking this one out. The thing about gloves and socks is you always want to save a dry pair and boots are hell to dry out. Enjoyed it, keep ‘em coming.

As for tents, Paul, I have a Big Agnes Copper 2 I think it's called.
You looking for something to use in the Wind River?

I don't think they make it anymore though. Don't know what they make now for two person tent.
Nice tent at about 3.5 lbs. Plenty of room for gear inside, or in the two vestibules.
It's held up well in bad weather as long as you stake it out well.
I never like the zippers on the fly entrances though.
It was real easy to get the zipper flap hung up in the zipper, especially when wet.

Hey Pete,

Yeah, I need to get a tent for the Wind River range. All my research says the weather can be tricky there. I'm guaranteed to have strong thunderstorms and could have a day of really wet cold weather. I have the Big Agnes UL1 and even when the zippers were working properly I wouldn't trust it to hold up in rough weather. I probably won't buy another Big Agnes. I found that it's flimsy. I've always had trouble with the zippers but this year they pretty much failed on me. I tried cleaning them but it didn't seem to help.

This year at MOL camp I had what sounded like a bear cub run by my tent on the trail. I tried to get out of my tent to have a look but it took me like 5 minutes to open the zipper.

You are so right about weather in the Wind River Range!
We were there in late August.
They had six inches of snow days before we started.
It was mostly melted on trails for us.
6 days later we hiked the 16 miles out in a blizzard.
There were two helicopter rescues that day!
Beautiful days sandwiched between.
Good to be prepared.

I really hope it doesn't show on me when I out there. Maybe I'll be lucky and get good weather the whole trip.
