Love that composite shot looking down on Sperry with Edwards in the background. What a fabulous perspective. It really conveys the incredible siting of the chalet.

And the waterfall collaboration is wonderful. You and Maia did a great job.

Keep the report coming!

actually I like your picture of the mountains as well!
Thanks! It was fun!
The credit-card rocks are done with regular watercolor paints.
The painting of Edwards was initially done with watercolor pencils, then I touch it with a wet brush to blend it in places. The pencils are handy because they're easy to take with you when traveling..

Fri Sept 11th

I think maybe I should see if SlowHiker will trade names with me… Or maybe I should be SlowStarter. I seemed to have a trend going of saying “I’ll be along in 5-10 minutes” which really always turned into a half hour; anyway so I was late getting on the trail to Sperry Glacier. Very nice hike up to Comeau Pass, but unfortunately I got to the top just in time to have missed the Wolverine! But it was still a great day, lounged at the top, enjoying the views, the conversations, and some lunch! Oh and the goats wandering around us. Then headed back down to the lodge.

Bruce and LikeToHike and a goat behind, and maybe JayW way in the distance near the snow.

Chief Mtn way in the distance..(I think?) It doesn’t seem possible that we could see it from Comeau Pass, but it sure looks like it..

Another great day at Sperry! The last of the wine on the rocks, a great roast beef dinner, and even some Bananagrams after dinner.

Well, true to form I was slow getting packed, and I think I was the very last person out of the lodge for the season!!
I caught up to Jen, Maia, Bruce, LikeToHike and FuzzySideDown about a third of the way down, and we all had a nice hike down!
We all got our packs and boots off, dumped our gear in our cars, and stopped in at Lake McDonald Lodge for a beer,
very nice relaxing in the lodge and enjoying the view of the lake!

Then we got some snacks and drinks at the store and headed for Apgar campground, looking for a Chatter Meetup. We were
able to check some voicemail, and Chatter messages, and found out the meetup had been cancelled, but by then we had
all got separated in the Apgar campground! I ran into LikeToHike and Fuzzy and they sent a facebook message to Jen! We
re-grouped and had a nice little picnic at the Apgar beach picnic area and then we said our good bye's and all headed off!!

I spent the night in West Glacier and had my traditional last night dinner at the Belton Chalet! Its pricey but a great meal!

The next morning I headed back up to Eureka for a few more days with family and then headed back to Seattle.

Another Awesome Glacier trip!!

"He is still getting his boots on."

I need to take a lesson and slow the heck down. :)

You got some great shots of the Comeau hike!
Yes, that is Chief Mt. I love that you can see it from Comeau pass.

Another great Sperry trip with MATTTTBEEEEEE!
We should do that again. What are you doing next September? 8)

MattB, I really enjoyed the report roomie...and nice artwork. (I did my first painting last week.) How come I don't recall past trip reports? This one was great.

Thanks! It was a fun trip! Pretty easy to write a great trip report when the memories are so good!!

I've usually done trip reports in the past, but maybe none as memorable as this one!

Hmmmm, maybe "StillGettingHisBootsOn" should be my Chatter name, or my Native name!

I think maybe I could work that into my schedule!!
It would be a nice late summer early fall trip to go with my spring road trip!!
I bet with two or three more tries we might even be able to find the trail to Thoma Lookout or maybe even Mt Hefty!!!
How many people will Schauss Cabin hold??

Shall we revive the Sperry Takeover Poll??
:-)
