Practice hiking

I was out rollerskiing today and saw a couple hiking with loaded backpacks. I said, "It looks like a backpack trip." A buddy said, "Are you practice hiking?" which was kind of cringe worthy, but ok. After a loop, we saw them again and I asked where their trip was. "Glacier." I couldn't get out much of an answer except, "I love Glacier." And, "Bring 3 bottles of tequilla."

Ok, joking about the last bit.

You are making me realize that I am a little behind with my training. I haven’t gone out with a loaded pack yet.

This flatlander has a couple of 10 lb bags of rice in the pack, and has gotten used to getting funny looks around the neighborhood!

Yeah, I know the feeling 8)
I walk around town here in Whitefish and on the local walking/biking path.
I use sunflower seed in 1 gallon ZipLocs; they go about 3lbs each.
Six of them plus some odd gear makes a full(ish) practice load.
