I had 2 large canvas prints made of 2 of my Tunnel photos.
I have them on display/for sale at Loulas in Whitefish. If you're local, please check them out.
Here's a photo of a photo:

Also on display this month at Colter Coffee, Kalispell, and at Paint, Metal, and Mud (next to Alley Connection/Kalispell Hotel) in April.
I'll have some black and white photos also.

Thanks,
Steve

Hey Steve:

Cool beans. I'll have to check them out.
I live just two blocks from Loula's.
I go to the Glacier Bank for the company frequently so I can stop by Paint, Metal, and Mud.
Thanks for the heads up!

It's been exactly a year since I skied (almost) to the Loop and captured some awesome images of ice in the Westside Tunnel.
There was new snow last week, so I headed to Avalanche to ski to The Loop.
No one on the road yet, so I thought I'd have first tracks. Just as I was ready to ski, a concrete truck rolls up, unlocks the gate, and proceeds to chain up. He said they had one final pour to do in the tunnel. He said it was the latest he's ever poured.
It ruined the experience a bit knowing there were guys up there working, but the skiing was easier in his tracks.
By the time I reached the tunnel, they were pouring and finishing concrete. I took some photos for a bit and then continued to the Loop, and hiked out the trail to the creek. Beautiful back in there with new snow on the bridge and creek.
When I came back down they had finished pouring. They were short about 2 wheelbarrows of concrete! So 3 guys had to wait a couple hours for another truck.
I was glad I finally made it to the Loop. Looks like the road is closed at Lake MacDonald now for the season. It was about 15 miles round trip. There was no huge icicles or ice flows in the tunnel this time.
I shot a short video of the guys pouring.

Really nice Steve. I like your images a lot.
And I'm jealous because I can't ski and not fit enough to get to those places like you do 8)
Well done.

It's a wee bit late to pour concrete. I wonder how they get it to set with temps this cold. I had trouble getting concrete to harden last fall with temps...oh maybe 40F.

Is there anything special you have to do to get your photos on 500px?

The driver said it was the latest he's ever poured. They use hot water in the mix for the long haul from Kalispell.
After the concrete is placed, it's covered with insulated tarps and they run a heater off a generator for a day or two.
They got that done just in time, cause we're in single digits now and dropping.

500px is simple to sign on to. I use the free version which allows 20 photos per week, which is fine for me.
I like the way photos display on their site. There are some awesome photos and photographers on there.
