Hey everyone! Thanks. It should tell you something about me, that a 10 year old truck drives like a "luxury car" compared to Squeeze. 8)
More on that in the short 7minute video from today.

Hey Lyman:

Wait no more. Here's a few pics from today and a short video from Jaybird's first trip to GNP.
I'm also happy to report that Bonnie and Clyde were both there ans appeared as healthy as ever.
Clyde doesn't like my bed liner too much! LOL! His claws can't get good "purchase" and he slips a bit trying to stand/walk on the sides and tailgate.

I comment live while making these videos and sometimes have to correct mistakes or incorrect observations.
I believe they see through the tinted windows better than I thought doing the video.
Clyde didn't hesitate to fly down and jump right on the mirror like he always does.
So I'm thinking they could see at least my red jacket and ball cap through the window. I looked later and I could see my jacket better than I thought.
And these ravens' visual acuity and color perception are far better than a humans.
I keep making the mistake that because these birds are "small" with small eyes that they somehow can't see me from a treetop LOL
Pretty arrogant of me huh? 8)
My guess is that next time out they will recognize Jaybird as my vehicle. :)
We'll see tomorrow if I get a chance to go.

I was really relieved to see that both B&C were doing well.

Runs about 7 minutes

If the snow keeps coming like this month for the whole winter , we'll be in "fat city"!
Image

There was another camper in the Apgar picnic area as well.
Image

Bonnie squawking. :) Watch the video. I love the way she walks around with her "bonnet" fluffed out making her funny calls.
Image

Clyde after digging in the snow.
Image

On the way out I drove up to the outhouse and Clyde was waiting when I came out. 8)

Wow - Pete - four doors, automatic transmission and only 10 years old. And from your video it looks like the new pickup drives well. It is great to see both Bonnie and Clyde and I am glad they were not confused by the new vehicle.

Ralph - great frosty beard picture. On Sunday morning the temperature was -23F here in southeastern Minnesota. A couple of our cattle looked like the frosty bison from Yellowstone that show up in some pictures. However, their facial hair frost was not as thorough as yours.

So nice that B&C know who you are!
Interesting noises Bonnie makes: "water gurgling down drain" and the "snorting" sounds. Must have meaning to these birds.
Great that you have befriended these birds!
The mountains are calling and I must go.

Well, you're now driving a vehicle a year newer than mine. Congrats. The next thing we'll know, you'll be bluetoothing padcasts to you're music system while getting info from "Ok google."

Enjoyed the video.

Merry Christmas.

Hey Ken!
Nice weather you're having over there in North Dakota!
A little windy for building a snowman huh? 8)

Yeah Squeeze gave it up finally--transmission/clutch issues.
My workmate found Jaybird at a small lot in Kalispell. He knows the owner.

We will do the summit of Piegan next time you guys come. I believe you'll like it.
The views are incredible on a nice day. Nothing hard about it. No exposure, it's just a long day hike.

Cheers and tell Larry and Bill hi for me.

Happy New Year from Glacier National Park here on NYE's day.

Tomorrow, I probably wont be able to get here due to weather. Not too cold now at 25 F at about 1115.
Nice day though. Heading to Lake McDonald Lodge.

Later

Yeah, the peace and quiet of winter in the park is very nice. :)
Here a couple more pictures. By the time I got to the lodge , the wind had picked up just enough to mess up the reflections.
Plus clouds and overcast moved in too. Not the best for photos.

It'll be interesting to see how these familiar scenes/places change if we keep getting snow and, continued cold temperatures.

Image

It's been cold for most of December, especially last couple weeks. I would expect to see some ice on the lake soon if the current forecast holds.
Image

There's something appealing to me about empty buildings in winter. 8)
Image

I've been watching the snow accumulate for weeks now at this pullout just east of the Sprague Creek CG. I love how snow piles up on all the different surfaces.
Image

The snow by that log fence above wasn't as consolidated as I thought. Sunk to my knees kind of unexpectedly getting close to the fence for that picture. 8)

Thanks David!
Here are a few more from this weekend. Nothing earth shaking, just another winter day in GNP.
Cold again, in the single digits having "warmed up" from about -17F this morning.
Ice is beginning to accumulate on the Apgar end of the lake with little thin ice patches forming all over the lake's surface.
8)

3 minute video

Maybe try the North Fork road tomorrow weather permitting.

I saw PizzaBob's wife Sandy at the boat ramp :) She was taking pictures and breaking in some new winter boots.

Cheers all!

Icicles at the West Gate

Someone left this chair on the beach. I thought it made for a kind of whimsical picture.

Same with this shot.
"Take the Plunge" ?
Be my guest.

Clyde better not be scratching Jaybird!! They spotted me and Jaybird coming in and snuck up on me. See video.
Image

All the animals that are active in the park during winter simply amaze me. They continue to thrive even under what we humans consider brutal conditions. Just go look at Deb1741's video of the bison in Yellowstone. Jay posted it on her TR in the other forum. Bonnie and Clyde will fluff up,get close together and sit on their feet/legs to help conserve energy.
